Louisville-Based RegenEn Solar LLC Awarded $1.1 Million Contract To Install Solar Water-Heating Systems on Marine Barracks at Parris Island, SC

LOUISVILLE, KY – January 24, 2012 – Louisville-based RegenEn Solar LLC has been awarded a $1.1 million contract to install four solar water-heating systems on Marine barracks at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, SC. The project will consist of nearly 400 solar thermal collectors spread across four buildings, with a commercial-scale solar thermal pumping station in each building. All of the installed equipment will be manufactured in the U.S.A.

“This will be one of the U.S. military’s largest solar-water heating installations to date, and we’re very excited to be part of it,”  said Dan Hofmann, President of RegenEn Solar. “The Parris Island systems are one of many solar projects included in the Defense Department’s recently announced initiative to build large-scale solar arrays on millions of acres of military-owned land in the U.S.”

The solar thermal systems will greatly reduce water-heating costs for the Parris Island barracks, saving U.S. taxpayers money over the estimated 25-year lifespan of the systems. RegenEn has partnered with Richmond, California-based SunWater Solar to complete the installations. Work is scheduled to begin in spring 2012.
